Our School Core Values of Responsibility and Kindness inspired us to found the BSCD Charity Committee in 2022. The existence of our Charity Committee, made up of volunteers from the staff, pupils from Year 6 and Secondary and families, serves as a powerful demonstration to pupils that we are actively modelling our sense of responsibility and kindness towards the world, by organising and participating in charitable initiatives that embody creating a meaningful and impactful learning experience for our pupils.
At least one charitable event for all kind of different purposes is organised each term and the key aspects of the purpose of the charity are:
To make a positive impact by supporting local charities focused on addressing community needs. This reflects a commitment to fostering a sense of responsibility and active participation among pupils within their immediate surroundings.
The Committee is dedicated to supporting global charities that focus on child-related issues. This underscores a commitment to addressing the needs of their peers internationally and promoting a sense of global responsibility.
In the aftermath of natural disasters, famine or war, children often find themselves as innocent victims facing immediate and pressing challenges. The BSCD Charity Committee is committed to responding to these events, aiming to not only raise awareness but also extend a helping hand to those children in need.
By connecting pupils to real-life events and experiences, the Committee helps to raise awareness about the challenges faced by others in the community and by children, just like themselves, around the world. This exposure contributes to a more empathetic and informed student body. Engagement with current affairs and community issues enriches pupils' learning experience and promotes a deeper understanding of the world around them.
