Stay for Lunch Programme fletxa dreta

Parents joining school lunches plays a vital role in strengthening the school community and fostering a sense of connection between families and the school. It creates an opportunity for parents to engage with their child's daily environment, build relationships with staff and other families, and show support for the school's initiatives. For children, it is a moment of pride and encouragement, as they see their parents taking an active interest in their school life, which can boost their confidence and sense of belonging. This collaboration helps create a cohesive, supportive atmosphere that benefits everyone.

PE and Outdoor Learning fletxa dreta

Forest School and Outdoor Learning. This approach allows greater flexibility to meet curriculum needs while still embracing outdoor experiences. The Forest School program is a series of sessions spread over several weeks, and as the core concepts don’t need to be repeated yearly, we integrate them with outdoor learning of other subjects. This way, children benefit from varied, enriching outdoor activities that support their holistic development and academic progress.

  • PE is conducted once a week and follows the objectives outlined in the National Curriculum.
  • Outdoor learning occurs once weekly and may take place in the forest or other school surroundings. Both activities require the PE uniform.
  • Volunteer Support for Forest School: This request is aimed at fostering home-school connections.
Technology Use in School fletxa dreta

At our school, we follow the National Curriculum guidance to deliver ICT (Computing) classes. This ensures that our teaching aligns with national standards and best practices. You can find more information about the National Curriculum for Computing online. In the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), particularly with children under 3 years old, there is no screen time for students. However, teachers may use tools such as iPads and interactive whiteboards to support activities like playing songs or leading dance routines, enhancing learning through interactive and creative experiences.

From the Foundation Stage onward, and in line with the EYFS framework, children begin developing an understanding of basic software use and online safety. These foundational

Skills are introduced through age-appropriate activities to ensure children gain a positive and secure introduction to technology. Our commitment is to provide a balanced approach to ICT, prioritising developmentally suitable practices and fostering responsible and safe technology use from an early age.

  • The school's ICT policy is available in the APP under the Policies folder.
  • The Digital Citizenship Education Program focuses on safe and responsible technology use.
Work Experiences in Secondary fletxa dreta

The British curriculum includes work placements at two key stages:

  • Year 10 (Y10): Placements focus on community and service-based activities to foster solidarity and social responsibility.
  • Year 12 (Y12): Placements concentrate on direct work experience and immersion in professional environments.

These two stages of work experience are independent of one another, providing students with complementary experiences that will add value to their academic and professional futures. The work placements are managed following the same procedures as those used in Catalan educational institutions, ensuring compliance with current regulations.

In selecting companies, priority is given to those involved in the school's Business Family programme, which supports proximity and trust. The school is also open to new proposals that may enrich these formative experiences.

Homework as Home Challenges fletxa dreta

At our school, homework is designed as home challenges tailored to meet the individual needs of each child while also aligning with the general learning objectives of the curriculum.

This personalised approach ensures that each child can engage with tasks that are relevant to their development and learning journey. These challenges are uploaded to Tapestry by class teachers, providing a more effective way to distribute individualised activities and keep track of what has been completed. This platform allows both teachers and parents to monitor progress and engagement in a seamless and accessible manner.

Home challenges are reviewed and corrected by class teachers. However, our pedagogical approach is evolving to prioritise verbal feedback given directly to children during class time. Research shows that this type of feedback is more effective in supporting learning and encourages children to take an active role in independently reviewing and correcting their own work, fostering important skills for self-regulated learning.

  • Homework is designed to align with student needs. For clarification, students or parents may request additional materials directly from the class teacher.
Behaviour management fletxa dreta

At our school, we take behaviour and wellbeing very seriously. This commitment has been consistently recognized in our NABSS inspections, where we have received praise for our approach to fostering a positive and respectful learning environment. To ensure high standards are maintained, we conduct weekly whole-school observations led by the SLT and with the support of the Department of Wellbeing and SEND. These observations allow us to monitor, assess, and intervene promptly in any situations that may arise, ensuring every child feels safe and supported.

We remain committed to promoting a culture of respect, care, and responsibility throughout the school, ensuring the best possible experience for every member of our community.

Language Accessibility fletxa dreta

We understand that non-Spanish-speaking parents may face challenges in fully engaging with school communications, meetings, and materials. We aim to provide translations during key meetings as well as sending most of our communications in the main spoken languages at the school. Our goal is to ensure that all families feel supported and included in our school community.

Homologation Process for ESO based on IGCSEs fletxa dreta

The process for homologating ESO studies based on IGCSEs is relatively straightforward. To complete it, a certificate from the school confirming the completion of secondary education and the average grades for Catalan, Spanish, and Geography & History subjects (according to the Catalan curriculum) must be submitted.

If the student continues at the school: The process for obtaining the ESO diploma does not require additional actions from the family. The school will send the certificate to the Generalitat de Catalunya, which will formalise the homologation through our educational inspector.

If the student plans to attend another school for the Bachillerato: The enrolment procedure for the destination school must be followed. In this case, the school will provide all necessary information to facilitate the admission process.

In response to the inquiry raised, the May grades will not automatically equate to homologation of the ESO. The final grade will be determined by averaging all subjects. More information about the evaluation criteria and the calendar for this process will be provided soon.

International Exchanges fletxa dreta

We are working on several projects that will be incorporated into the language and careers departments to provide life-enriching experiences for students. Exchanges are part of these experiences. We are currently working on exchanges with Germany and summer stays in England, an initiative started last year with great reception. Additionally, we are exploring other proposals that will be introduced progressively.
