Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning is a fantastic practice that offers numerous benefits for children's development. Incorporating outdoor learning into the curriculum is FUN and it is one of the favourites of our pupils, especially when it rains!

Our Outdoor Learning Programme provides an all-round education that nurtures physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth, allowing children to experiment in an open-ended environment that links with our curricular topics, tailored to their interests.

  • Allows children to explore their natural environment, fostering a sense of curiosity and respect for nature.
  • Often involve movement, helping children develop motor skills, strength, and coordination.
  • Provides opportunities for practical and experiential learning, making concepts more tangible and memorable.
  • While working in groups, outdoor play helps children develop social skills such as communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
  • Being outdoors can reduce stress and anxiety, promoting a positive mood and greater emotional well-being.
  • The natural environment stimulates creativity, allowing children to invent games and explore in ways that may not be possible in a traditional classroom.
