The British School Costa Daurada is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for children to be cared for and educated. We recognise that it is our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children by committing to a practice that protects them. "Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility"; everyone who meets children and their families and carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. To fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child centred.
As a School we recognise that children will talk to an adult they know and trust and therefore our expectation is that this person will listen to the child about their concerns and then report this to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
The BSCD is committed to inter-agency working in order to secure the best levels of safeguarding for all of its pupils. The school contributes to inter-agency working in accordance with the Ley Orgánica 8/2021 4th June de Protección Integral a la Infancia y la Adolescencia frente a la Violencia. Please refer to the Safeguarding Policy for further.
We have 2 members of the staff who are specifically trained as Safeguarding Leaders.
“The school's appointed safeguarding leaders run supportive and informative courses for staff at the beginning of the academic year which help them to prepare ahead for their pupils. Pupils feel safe and respected and know who to approach if they have a concern” NIS Report 2024.
